Philosophy & Curriculum

Our mission is to provide Preschool education for 3 and 4 year old children in a safe, child-centered environment where they will achieve success while growing academically, socially and emotionally.

A Quality Program

Kingswood Preschool is a non-denominational school and is open to children of all backgrounds and religions. We offer a program that is designed to encourage and promote the ability of each child in learning.

We provide education that is developmentally appropriate to the age of all children and to each of them as individuals.

We will help children to develop a foundation for life-long learning through positive learning experiences.

Curriculum

The emphasis of our program is socialization through play and group activities. Weekly themes are highlighted through art, science, music, stories, songs and hands-on activities.

Fine motor skills are acquired through the use of small manipulatives.

Large motor skills are developed during gym time, interactive games and dance.

Our 3 year old program focuses on socialization skills, learning to play and share with one another and an introduction to basic academics such as colors, shapes, letters and numbers.

We offer a pre-kindergarten readiness program for the 4 year old class through age appropriate activities. Each week a different letter is introduced as the children work on both upper and lower case letters and their sounds. Writing skills also are practiced each week.

Daily Class Schedule

As the children arrive, they work with small and large manipulative activities.

Circle Time consists of morning song, calendar, weather, stories and introduction to the day's activities.

Center Time and Free Play allow the children to explore various areas in the classroom and work on the main project of the day with individual or small groups. The children also work on the color, shape, number or letter of the week during this time.

Group Time consists of songs, games, large motor activities, finger plays, gym, show and tell or educational games.

Snack - We provide a healthy snack and 100% juice daily. Good manners and hygiene are emphasized at this time.

Dismissal - Safety is our main concern. The children are dismissed individually after they are signed out each day.
